# Inbox

> See what needs you across your tickets, from an agent's question to a plan waiting for approval, and clear it.

Your Inbox is where By Dawn collects everything that's waiting on you: an agent's question, a plan to approve, a pull
request to review, a mention, or a page that needs checking. This page shows you where to find it, what lands in
it and how to clear it, so nothing that blocks an agent sits unseen.

## Open your Inbox

- **On the desktop and the web**, choose the bell, **Notifications**, at the top right. It opens a panel headed
**Attention**. The number on the bell counts the rows you haven't seen, the doc proposals waiting for review and any
  fixed reports, up to **9+**.
- **On a phone**, choose the **Inbox** tab.

The phone's Inbox shows the same tickets and Docs items as the bell's panel. It has two filters: **Needs you**, the
default, shows only what waits on you, and **All** adds the updates too.

The **Needs you** view in the sidebar is a different thing: it filters the board to the tickets held for you.

## What lands there

Items are grouped by ticket, so one ticket with three questions is one row. The row names the ticket, says why
it's there, and shows how long ago it happened. A blue dot means you haven't seen it.

### Needs you

These block an agent until someone acts:

| The row says | What happened |
| --- | --- |
| the agent's question, or **Waiting on an answer** | An agent working on a ticket asked you something. |
| the step's name, such as a plan to approve | A ticket you own is held at a [checkpoint](https://docs.bydawn.com/mission-checkpoints/) that a person decides. |
| **Waiting on a permission decision** | An agent needs your permission before it does something. |
| **Worker went quiet** | A running agent stopped making progress. |
| **Not logged in — needs a human to reauthenticate** | The agent's Claude sign-in ran out. |
| a CI message, such as **CI gate gave up — needs a human** | The pull request's checks are stuck in a way By Dawn can't fix alone. |

A row that waits on you has a button for the next step: **Review plan**, **Pick**, **Review PR** or **Answer**.
Each opens the ticket at its feed, where you can answer. A CI row can offer **Retry** instead.

### Updates

These are for your information:

- **Ready for review**: an agent finished its turn on a ticket.
- **Paused on the usage limit**: an agent hit its Claude usage limit, and waits for it to reset.
- **Waiting on an external event**: an agent is waiting on something outside By Dawn.
- **mentioned you**: someone mentioned you in a comment.
- Cycle news: **Cycle started**, **Ends in … days** and **Cycle closed**, for a cycle you work in.
- **Needs Claude sign-in**: a machine you own or administer needs signing in to Claude again. Choose it to sign
  the machine in.

### At the top of the panel

Above those, the bell's panel can show:

- **Your morning briefing**, a summary of what's waiting, what's in review and what shipped. Choose it to open the
briefing. You can set it up in [Notifications and preferences](https://docs.bydawn.com/notifications/#morning-briefing).
- **Doc proposals**, the [page edits agents propose](https://docs.bydawn.com/docs-wiki/#review-agent-edits). **Review all** opens them.
- **Docs to verify**, the [pages you own](https://docs.bydawn.com/docs-wiki/#verify-a-page) that have gone stale or soon will.
- **Your report … is fixed**, when a problem you reported with **Feedback** has been fixed.
- **Turn on browser notifications**, in the web app, until you choose **Enable** or **Not now**.

When there's nothing, it says **All quiet — nothing needs you.**

## Clear it

- Opening the bell marks every row as seen. Doc proposals keep counting on the bell until someone reviews them.
- Opening a ticket, or answering it, marks its rows as seen.
- On a phone, the check button at the top (**Mark all as read**) marks every row as seen.

A row that's been seen stays in the list, so you can come back to it, until newer rows push it out: the Inbox keeps
your latest 100. Doc proposals, pages to verify and machines that need signing in leave on their own once they're
dealt with.

There's no way to dismiss, snooze or mute one row yet.

## FAQ

**Why does my Inbox look different on my other computer?**

Your Inbox is kept on each device, built from what that device hears while By Dawn is open. What you've seen on one
doesn't carry over to another, and a device that was closed can miss a row. To see every ticket held for you,
whatever the device, use the **Needs you** view in the sidebar.

**Can I get these as notifications instead?**

Yes. The desktop app and your browser can alert you, with or without a sound, and you choose which kinds. See
[Notifications and preferences](https://docs.bydawn.com/notifications/).

**Why isn't a ticket I'm watching in my Inbox?**

A ticket held at a mission step goes to the Inbox of the person it's assigned to, or of the person who created it
if nobody is assigned. Assign the ticket to yourself to have it come to you.
