Command palette and search

By Dawn has two kinds of search. The command palette, ⌘K, finds a ticket, a Docs page or a Memory note anywhere in your organization and opens it. The search bar at the top of the screen searches and filters the board, or the pull requests, epics or settings when you’re on those. This page shows you how to use both.

Press ⌘K (CtrlK on Windows and Linux), or choose the ⌘K button at the right of the search bar, which shows when the window is wide enough. It works even while you’re typing somewhere else, and on top of an open ticket. Press it again, or Esc, to close it.

Type in Search tickets and docs…. Results come in four groups:

Group What it finds
Open tickets the tickets you have open as tabs. Before you type, it lists them all, so ⌘K is also a quick way to switch between them. It’s not there with ticket tabs off
Tickets tickets in every project, by ID (such as SAW-123) or by words in them
Docs Docs pages, by title, key (such as D28) or a phrase in the page. Each result shows the space and where the page sits, with the matching words highlighted
Memory Memory notes, the short rules and decisions agents remember

An exact ID or page key comes first. You only see what you’re allowed to read.

Move through the results with ↑ and ↓, then press ↵ or click to open one. A ticket opens in its project, and a page or note opens in Docs.

If nothing matches, the palette says No tickets, pages or notes match what you typed. If search can’t be reached, it says Search isn’t available right now. Try again in a moment.

The search bar at the top, Search or filter this view · jump anywhere on the board, works on the screen you’re looking at. Type, and it suggests:

  • Filter this view: filters you can add, such as an assignee, status, label, epic, cycle or priority. Press ⇥ to add the first one as a filter, and ⌫ in an empty box to remove the last one.
  • Text: shows only the tickets that mention what you typed.
  • Tickets: tickets that match, to open one.
  • Jump to: a screen, such as Pull requests or Docs, or a setting, to go straight there.
  • Board views (Views once you type): views of the board, such as My tickets or Running now, and any you’ve saved.

On Pull requests and Epics & Milestones it searches those instead, and on an epics page / jumps to it. On other screens, such as Docs or Insights, it searches the board, and choosing a filter takes you there. In Settings, it finds a setting by its name or what it’s about. Press ↵ to open the best match.

Move through suggestions with ↑ and ↓, and press Esc to close them.

A few screens have a search box of their own: Questions (questions and their answers), Memory in Docs, Repos, and the cycle planner. Docs pages have none, because ⌘K searches them.

Can I run commands from the palette?

Not yet. The palette finds tickets, pages and notes. To go to a screen or a setting, use Jump to in the search bar, or a keyboard shortcut.

Why doesn't ⌘K open?

In Settings the key does nothing, but the ⌘K button in the search bar still opens the palette. On a phone, use the search bar instead.

Does ⌘K search every project?

Yes. Tickets, pages and notes come from every project you can see, not only the one that’s open.
